Planting Complete in Lavenham

April, 2026

Planting was recently completed for a garden in Lavenham I designed last year.

The design complements the original building’s Tudor past, with a loose parterre style, and provides distinct spaces to cook, dine, and relax. No mean feat in this compact space.

The planting scheme is soft and romantic with summer-flowering species such as Nepeta, Salvia, Verbascum, Geranium, and Astrantia. Lavender, Oregano, Viola and Roses link to the historic feel and provide scent around the seating areas. Stunning Osmanthus balls contribute year-round structure, as well as as beautiful, scented flowers in the spring.

Star Jasmine will create an evergreen screen on the fence over time, while the Akebia (Chocolate Vine) will be a stunning focal point on a rope wire trellis system on the boundary wall. A gnarled old Wisteria has been retained and pruned, to fully appreciate its sculptural quality.

Now the garden truly complements the beautiful interior of this historic property.
