Eastern Inspired Front Garden

The clients wanted something with the wow factor for their large front garden and driveway. As frequent travellers they were keen to take inspiration from their visits to Japan and China.

A series of interlocking circles were created to include space for a feature seat and lantern, standing stone and moon arch, as well as a large area of lawn, and space for parking several vehicles. The main area is retained gravel, with staggered pathways of granite and basalt plank paving, and coordinating setts. The feature circles were given extra interest with gravel in contrasting shades and polished black pebbles.

The clients like bright colours in their interior decoration so a flaming red paint was custom mixed to provide pops of colour on the arch and bespoke planters, and some tall red pots were sourced for the front door. Practical needs were met with a bespoke storage unit for bins, recycling, and logs. This was given a green roof planted with foliage plants, Geraniums and small spring bulbs.

Large planting beds are still to mature but contain Asian favourites such as Acers, Bamboo and a large, multi-stem Tibetan Cherry. Ferns and ornamental grasses provide ground cover for the mix of shrubs, perennials and bulbs to bring colour and interest throughout the year.
