Planting under way at the Wave Garden.
October, 2023
We finally got some plants in at the wave garden in Suffolk last week. Like everywhere at the moment it feels like it has been slightly flooded, but luckily the weather was kind enough to allow us to get the majority planted. Some structure is already forming with some beautiful trees. Amelanchier and winter-flowering Cherry will provide seasonal interest, while Ligustrum takes care of evergreen screening in key areas. Further screening from pleached Beech will make the swimspa feel much more private.
The main scheme is a mix of shrubs with different seasons of interest, a range of herbaceous perennials with a focus on attracting pollinators, a beautiful range of spring bulbs in blue, white, purple, pink, and peach, and various ornamental grasses to add to the feeling of enclosure. It doesn’t look much at the moment but I can’t wait to see this bloom next year. There were already some bees enjoying the Agastache when I left.
The final image shows a junction of the three types of paving used to delineate the areas.
