Graduation from the London College of Garden Design at Kew.

July, 2022

2022 has been an extremely busy year so far. As well as working on private and commercial projects, I have been studying very intensively on the Planting Design Diploma at the prestigious London College of Garden Design.

This is a completely unique course developed to support garden designers, landscape architects and professional gardeners who want to expand their skills and expertise in planting design. Classes are held at the iconic Kew Gardens, and tutors are some of the leading experts in their field.

During the course we undertook two large projects. One was for a specified private client in London, while the second allowed us the freedom to choose our client.

For the first project I focused on perfumed plants and created a signature scent for a family to evoke past memories and create new ones.

For my second project I chose to create a London base and rehearsal space for Cuban dance legend, Carlos Acosta. The space was a conceptual journey through his fascinating life, with a particular focus on plants to create movement.

Apart from the fantastic tutors I was lucky to work alongside an amazing group of classmates from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, and had a great day graduating at Kew with them.

As well as achieving a distinction, I was absolutely delighted to achieve the college prize, for the student with the highest marks in their year.

Most importantly I feel that this course has stretched me as a designer, providing me with new skills and ideas for planting, and design in general.
