The grounds of almost two acres around this large, listed hall in Suffolk have been landscaped and added to over the years without a clear vision for the overall site. I have been commissioned to create a masterplan to help the owners visualise the potential in their space, and from which they can work over the next few years.
The bare bones of the garden are wonderful, with lots of mature trees, interesting features, and secret nooks. However, many of the lines do not relate to the property, and there are paths that lead nowhere. The design utilises most of the existing structure, but with the addition of new winding pathways leading to surprises, and reconfigured planting areas to screen and reveal where needed.
A mix of some formal areas for large-scale entertaining, as well as more naturalistic orchard meadow areas for more relaxed gatherings, and additionally provision for a large vegetable garden, will make this space multi-functional as well as beautiful.
